Sunless/Sonless

Teach me then,
to breathe fine without the sun and its warmth entire;
To slumber beneath the redwood –
oblivious of fire.

No two leaves ever promised to stay.
To linger, however long,
only the living among us may.

You,
you wore dark glasses by choice,
these so-called blinds of disregard.
In hopes you live abandoned by the sun,
the wood under this bark got scarred
and I,
I now live on.
